Camino Santiago Day 3: 31-Aug-2023

Post 4 Poem 4

Santiago fun.
St. James is bigger than life.
Great times. Gotta go.

This day was spent with Don, hitting some of my known Santiago highlights (Decathlon!) some new ones (Vodafone! Where Don’s Spanish vocabulary gets stumped by SIM card lingo) then traveling to the starting point of the walking portion of our journey

Better photo of where the relics are kept
Frontal view of James’ Icon

The altar of this cathedral (small portion seen above) is huge and impressive. Lots of precious metals, detailed craftsmanship, deep imagery, very nice!

A little shell-related corner near the west side entrance of Cathedral
Lunch. Nutella Muffin and Peach Iced Tea. They have some proper ice cubes here. Don had a tortilla and coffee.
An entrance to a building which is not the cathedral.
Some of the tourist crowd. About 4 phone cameras disappeared from view a moment before I took this photo. Getting a front row center viewpoint is challenging.
Local construction techniques. It’s stood up so far, what’s another 100 years or so? No problem!
I’ve been told that “Compostela” can be translated as “Field of Stars” and I can see one here next to The Grail.
Pre Dinner break.
Start walking in the morning, follow the shells. Or the stars. Or both.

Above image is from Santiago, we start walking back to Santiago from Sarria.

Hope all is well with everybody. I’m doing ok, listening to my body, and checking in with my oncologist as needed.

Don and are are having a great time so far and eagerly look forward to the continued days of vacation!
